We'd planned to leave about 2 o'clock but eventually left around 3:30. Our late departure meant we didn't visit Pat. The drive up to Crook was dull and uneventful except for the rain. We were caught in the heaviest downpour I've seen for a long time. As we were only 30 minutes or so away from the hotel it didn't bode well. However, by the time we reached The Wild Boar the bright blue sky was clear and full of fluffy white clouds. I love the sky when it's like that.
We arrive about 5:30 and booked in. Our room, No. 17, wasn't quite as nice as those we'd had previously but it was good enough. After lazing around for an hour or so we booked a table in the restaurant for 8:30 and started to get ready.
We arrived at the restaurant a fashionably 10 minutes late :^). Jane still wasn't really hungry so we sat by an open window and worked our way through a bottle of Pinot Grigio. We eventually ate at about 9:30. I had mushrooms in filo pastry to start and Cumberland sausage for my main course. Jane had a chicken dish.
Unfortunately, Jane wasn't feeling too well so we headed back to the room, and sleep, at about 11 o'clock.
