There were high points and low points. Unfortunately the low points outweighed the high points but all-in-all I enjoyed my week off.
Last night I had a celebration meal at Bistro Jacques in Liverpool. In the end there were 12 of us; Jane, me, Rob & Karen, Ed & Lyn, Linda & Alan, June & Ken and Jill & Debbie. I was delighted that everybody made it to The Crack for at least one pint before we left for the restaurant.
It was rather wonderful to see Jill and Debbie out together. Jill, in particular, was really on form. It was almost like travelling back in time to when Ed & I were 17 and Jill & Debbie were 16. (Phil couldn't make it as he had hurt his shoulder and Ian had a prior arrangement.)
In the taxi home Ed and I were teasing Jill that we were going to tell her daughter (who is 14 today) all about what her mother used to do when she was not much older than that.
The only downside to the night was the swine that stole Debbie's bicycle saddle.
And so back to work.
