The madness of it all

I have Adobe Photoshop Elements installed on this PC. Without asking it took over the association of JPEG files so, if I double click on one, it loads in Elements. Elements takes ages to load, it's very alloying.
Yesterday I edited a photo using Elements and saved it in PSD format. I've just double clicked on the file, to edit it further, and...
It loaded in the image browsers. Madness!
