When I first worked for this mob - back in the early to mid 90s - the team was a mess. There wasn't any true industry experience. The legislation changes that came through were cobbled together as some form of specification by whoever was about. Unfortunately this was never anybody who truly understood the nature of the changes and their relationship to the old legislation. This was also always done in haste because we were always fighting fires. The result was that we replaced the faults we'd fixed on a release with new ones.
As we're now down to two support people - those that understand the legislation - I can see us winding up in a similar mess very soon. Especially as one of them is due to move off the project in April. This is all down to the pointy haired boss who's far more interested in counting his short term beans. I'm sure his decision is based on the project being wound up, with - in theory - our last customers leaving by April next year. The company is trying to find other work with these existing customers. They are going to be well impressed when they find the quality of their current system falling. Still, it's all billable.
In other news we bought a new garden hose to use on the new lawn. I cut my hand while setting it up. I didn't notice until I looked down and saw blood everywhere. I must be a real man now.
