There are three siblings. Jane and John are taking things very sensibly as far as I'm concerned. They know that their mother is likely to die within the next few days but are also being optimistic about her outlook.
Their sister, Fran is a completely different kettle of fish. She seems to think that Pat is about to go each time her breathing changes. She's also spending every minute she can at Pat's bedside.
